Grant delighted to make his Cod Army debut

Scottish midfielder Thomas Grant made his Fleetwood Town debut in tonight’s narrow defeat to the Saddlers on the Fylde Coast.

The youngster recently signed a deal with the Cod Army until the end of the season after leaving former club Falkirk.

He is now hoping to establish himself in Steven Pressley’s side, and admitted the boss has had a big impact on his career so far.

Grant said: “It was good to get game time under my belt as I haven’t played a professional game in a while, so I enjoyed that aspect of things.

“In the first half it took me a little while to get my second wind as I was struggling a bit, but after that I felt fine and grew into it.

“We played some really good stuff at times and passed the ball about well. If we score that goal then we go on to win it comfortably.

“Myself, Eggert and Jimmy linked up quite well in midfield and created good spaces for the strikes who got into some good areas.”

Grant said he jumped at the opportunity to come down to Fleetwood, and insists he is focused on getting as many minutes as possible under his belt now.

“I previously played under the gaffer at Falkirk and he phoned me up recently and just asked what my situation was at Falkirk.

“He asked me if I fancied come down so I did and spent a week on trial and then it materialised into more and now I’m here.

“Playing English football is something I’ve always wanted to try, and I just want to kick on now and get more starts in the team.”
