Tricky winger came on as a second half substitute

Keano Deacon made his Cod Army debut when he came on as a second half substitute in today’s draw against the Spireites.

Deacon has been a member of Barry Nicholson’s development squad this season, and previously came through the ranks of Town’s youth team.

The winger created an impression down the left hand side, and cased the home defence problems with his pace.

After the game, Deacon said: “I’m happy to make my debut. It’s been a long time for me but I’ve finally had the chance so I’m very happy right now.

“I’ve just tried to get back into the team recently and have been training with them a few times now so want to stay there now.

“I like the lads and they’ve all tried to help me a lot and they know that I keep running up and down all the time for the team.

“It was a bit of surprise to me when the gaffer called me to come on, but a few of the lads were telling me that they thought I had a chance today.

“I had a chance myself towards the end where I probably should have put it across the box first time, but I enjoyed the game itself.

“The main thing for us is that we didn’t lose the game because a point away from home is good. We can build from it.”
