Welshman netted his second Town goal in as many days

Wes Burns continued his goalscoring streak for the Cod Army this evening as he netted his second goals in as many games for his side.

The Welshman opened the scoring with a goal after just three minutes which went in straight from a corner as it crept past keeper Stuart Nelson.

Former Newcastle United man Shola Amoebi doubled the advantage minutes later as Burns turned provider for the experienced front man.

Afterwards, Burns said: “I’m delighted with another win tonight. We’ve taken three wins from four games since I’ve been here and it was good to get a goal again.

“I just want to score as many goals as I can. When I came in I had a meeting with the gaffer and he told me they were lacking goals, so that’s what I’ve come here to do.

“I’ll chase loose balls all day and we’ve been working on it in training. It’s all about exploiting defences and I think I can do that.

“For my goal you sometimes need a little bit of luck like that and it was a good start to the game for us. It sets the tone up nicely.

“When I first came in the boys were excellent with me so it’s been no problem settling in. I’m enjoying my football now.

“We’ve shown that we can beat the best teams in the league so we’re looking forward to another big game against Sheffield United on Saturday.”
