Osborne has an impressive record in front of goal

Nantwich Town midfielder Elliot Osborne has today signed for Fleetwood Town ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who scored 22 goals last season, will initially link up with Barry Nicholson’s development squad with the opportunity to progress into the first team set up.

The former Port Vale trainee told the Club website he was blown away when he saw the Poolfoot Farm facility for the first time.

“The Club have absolutely fantastic facilities. Everything is brand new and looking at the training pitches right now, it is superb.

“I have played at non-league level and to see the players the Club have helped progress through the leagues, I couldn’t think of anywhere else I would want to go.

“For a League One club to have these types of facilities, I cannot understand why anyone would not want to come here.

“Towards the end of last season I found out that Fleetwood were interested in me. The chief scout had watched me a few times and a couple of other EFL clubs showed an interest.

“I was gobsmacked when I saw the training ground for the very first time. “

Osborne is fully aware that the hard work now begins as he looks set to become a full time footballer for the very first time.

He continued: “Last year I scored 22 goals in The Evo Stik league from midfield which is not a bad return. I started out at Port Vale and I was there for nine years in total up until I was 18.

“I went to Nantwich and now I have joined Fleetwood Town and I can’t wait for it all to begin.

“To go into full time football and see how my team mates will play will only benefit me. That is what I have been missing for the last couple of years.  I want to carry on learning and I feel this is the best place for me to do that. “
