Club legend Nathan Pond signs contract extension

3 June 2016

Defender broke the Club's all time appearance record last season

Fleetwood Town Football Club are delighted to confirm that Nathan Pond has this morning signed a new 12 month contract extension at Highbury.

The 2016/17 campaign will be his 14th season with the Cod Army, having first joined the Club from Lancaster City back in 2003.

He broke the Club’s all time appearance record at Walsall last season when he played his 422nd Town game in front of the live Sky Sports cameras at the Banks’s Stadium.

Manager Steven Pressley said: “It’s terrific business and terrific news for us. He very much epitomises what we want to create within this Club.

“He’s a great professional who has a winning mentality and he’s a really good leader. We’re delighted to retain his services.

“It now gives us real competition for places in a key area. I want there to be a real fight for places with competition in every department.

“When I first arrived at the Club Nathan was injured and then returned to the team and performed exceptionally well for me.

“He then unfortunately picked up another knock later in the season, but he returned back to the team again towards the end of the season and his performances were very, very high.”
