McLaughlin set for a 30-minute run-out for the Cod Army

Conor McLaughlin returns to action for Fleetwood this evening as they take on Fortuna Sittard in the opening game of their pre-season tour to Holland.

The defender is set for a 30 minute run-out as he is eased back into things following his summer at the European Championships with Northern Ireland.

This is the first of two games in 36 hours for the Cod Army and with that in mind manager Steven Pressley has mixed-up his squad as well as giving many carrying slight knocks a rest.

Tonight there are starting places for Ash Hunter and Nick Haughton who both caught the eye with their all action second half performances as Salford, while Ricardo Kip starts against a side who play in the league he left to join Fleetwood just two weeks ago.

Pressley named an experienced bench for the game, with Nathan Pond, Bobby Grant and David Ball all expected to be given half an hour action.

New striker Aaron Holloway and midfield man Jimmy Ryan both aren’t quite ready, although could play in tomorrow’s clash with Dutch top-flight side AZ Alkmaar.

Town: Neal, Wright, Bolger, Eastham, Sowerby, Kip, Jonsson, Nirennold, Deacon, Hunter, Haughton.

Subs: Cairns, McLaughlin, Pond, Davis, B. Grant, T.Grant, Ball.
