Town drew at Colchester United this evening

Fleetwood Town manager Steven Pressley felt this evening’s point against Colchester United was a good one for his side.

Eggert Jonsson equalised for the Cod Army on the hour mark as he rifled a volley into the top corner, as Alex Gilbey gave the hosts the lead in the first half.

The result maintained Town’s unbeaten start to life in 2016, and they next face Doncaster Rovers at Highbury on Saturday afternoon.

Pressley said: “I was satisfied with a point in the end given our performance today. We never really reached the heights that we had in previous games.

“A sign of a good team though is when you come away from home and not play well but pick up a point. That’s a positive.

“Some of our performances recently have been really top level but we looked a little bit lethargic at times and it was difficult.

“Colchester are a side that like to sit in and expose you on the counter attack. We had a lot of possession during the game.

“The players have been brilliant for me since coming in here and I’m delighted that on a night where we didn't reach our heights, that we still got a point.

“That’s credit to the players because we’ve played significantly better than what we did tonight, so all in all it’s not a bad result.”
