Town travel to Barnsley on Saturday for JPT first leg

Bobby Grant is confident the Cod Army can come away from Saturday’s JPT Northern Area final first leg against Barnsley with a positive result.

Town have been victorious on their last two visits to Oakwell, and picked up three points in South Yorkshire earlier this season as Jamie Proctor’s first half goal separated the two sides.

And Grant wants his teammates to take heart from their recent good form against the Tykes, with the prize of a Wembley appearance on offer.

He said: “I think it’s a huge two games for the whole Club and the town itself. Everyone knows what a trip to Wembley does and what it generates.

“The manager has drummed it in to us that not many of us will get this opportunity again to get to a final at Wembley. We won’t be taking Barnsley lightly though.

“We’ve got to take belief from the win at Oakwell earlier in the season, but Barnsley are a different side now and have brought a few new faces in.

“They’ve had a couple of good results, but we’re fully confident that we can go there and get a job done again if we apply ourselves in the way we did against Bury.

“It’s a final at the end of the day and not many lads have played in finals. Hopefully we can go there and get a positive result to bring back to our place.

“It’d probably be the pinnacle of my career. Every player wants to play at Wembley and not many players in the lower divisions get the chance to do that.

“Fleetwood have been fortunate enough to do that in the past and have even won there which was great for the Club.

“For me personally and a lot of my teammates in the dressing room it’s a massive chance to achieve a lot of dreams.”
