Youngster delighted to pen a deal at Highbury

New signing Joe Davis wants to concentrate on his football after penning a deal with Steven Pressley’s Town side today.

The centre half joins the Club from Premier League high-flyers Leicester City, and is eager to continue his run in the Cod Army side after enjoying a loan spell on the Fylde Coast.

He has formed an impressive partnership with captain Nathan Pond in recent weeks, and looks set to keep his place in the side during the second half of the season.

He said: “I’m delighted that it’s all been done now and I can concentrate on my football. I’m looking forward to my time here and I just want to do well.

“I stated from the start that I’d be really interested in staying with the Club, and I’m just over the moon to be here now.

“I feel like I’ve fitted into the team really well and the system we’ve been playing suits me. It was a no brainer for me to come back and slot straight in.

“The staff and the coaches here are really good and the training sessions are very enjoyable. I’ve learnt a lot from them since I’ve been here.

“I’ve come on as a player over the past few months and hopefully I can continue to improve and just do as well as I possibly can.

“You only just need to look at the training ground to see how big the club could possibly be. If we can keep progressing then we’ll go a long way.

“I’ve spoken to my Dad and he’s really happy. He knows it’s the right club for me and wishes me all the best. I want to make him proud.

“Individually in the short term I want to play as many games as I can and put in some good performances, and then as a team I hope we lift ourselves up the table.”
