Jordan Wilson scored the game's only goal with a header

Jordan Wilson’s second half header condemned Fleetwood Town’s youth team to defeat against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday afternoon.

The striker popped up in the 52nd minute to head home Christopher Gallagher’s corner at the Shrewsbury Sports Village.

Louis Myers had a couple of early opportunities for the Cod Army when he rattled the bar with a free kick before dragging an effort wide.

It was Myers again who was having Town’s best chances, and saw his powerful header at goal well saved by the Shrews keeper.

Substitute Wilson went close for the home side at the start of the second period as he blasted over in the box with a first time shot.

But Wilson did break the deadlock shortly after when he fired a downward header into the back of the net for the game’s only goal.

The Cod Army pushed for an equaliser late on and went close through Dan Mooney, but his first time volley was superbly pushed behind.
