Town and Swindon face for fifth time

Fleetwood Town will be hoping to build on recent good results against Swindon Town on Saturday.

Uwe Rosler’s side are unbeaten in their last three games against Town, winning one and drawing two – including a 5-1 triumph at Highbury last November.

Both sides first met in November 2014 at the County Ground, with Swindon winning 1-0. Ben Gladwin scored the only goal four minutes from time, beating Chris Maxwell in the Fleetwood goal.

However, this would prove to be the only win The Robins would have over The Cod Army.

Both sides returned to Highbury for the first game of 2015, on the first week of January. Fleetwood had led by two goals from Josh Morris, before Andy Williams pulled a goal back 20 minutes from time. Louis Thompson levelled the scores just two minutes from time, to keep Swindon’s faint play-off hopes alive.

Both sides managed to stay in Sky Bet League One comfortably, with the next meeting coming on 21st November 2015 at Highbury. It was a night to remember for all Fleetwood fans – a comprehensive 5-1 win. An own goal from Adam El-Abd, along with second half goals from Antoni Sarcevic, David Henen, Tarique Fosu-Henry and Bobby Grant were more than enough for an emphatic win. Nicky Ajose scored nothing more than a conciliation for The Robins 12 minutes from time.

The last meeting between the sides was in April this year, where Fleetwood picked up a vital point in their battle to stay in Sky Bet League One.

Wes Burns opened the scoring in the sixth minute at The County Ground, with Ajose scoring his second in two games against Town to ensure the game finished 1-1.
