Uwe Rosler responds to Saturday's win against Walsall

Head Coach Uwe Rosler has expressed his delight as Fleetwood Town produced a fine display to beat Walsall.

Ash Hunter and Bobby Grant’s goals were enough as the Cod Army won 2-1.

“I’m delighted with the performance of the players. I think we had a good week in training and they’ve produced their work rate on the pitch. I don’t think the score line reflected our dominance today – we should have been out of sight.”

“The goals were top class finishes and we had a number of great chances. Their wing backs made it harder for us but I’m really happy with the chances we created.”

George Dobson’s goal for the visitors put Walsall back in contention, and Rosler has praised today’s opponents.

“Their goal gave them a lift and even when they’ve been outplayed they showed great spirit. The last five minutes was nerve-wracking for us because we didn’t take our chances.”

Despite the win, the game was marred by a nasty injury sustained to midfielder Kyle Dempsey, which Rosler has called unlucky. However, he hopes Dempsey will return to action soon.

“We’re really unlucky with injuries at the moment. He’s got a gash on his leg that is quite deep. It’s a similar situation to Jimmy Ryan where the player has gone right through the man and caught him. Kyle has gone to hospital and we’ll have to wait to see how he is.”
