Striker praises team after two goals help progress in Emirates FA Cup

Two goal hero Devante Cole praised his team’s ‘massive spirit’ after coming from behind to beat Shrewsbury 3-2 in the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday night.

Cole scored twice in the second half, after Fleetwood found themselves two goals down after goals from Jim O’Brien and Louis Dodds.

However a last minute Ashley Hunter goal saw Uwe Rosler’s side progress to the Third Round for just the second time in the club’s history.

“I think when we got the second goal, we knew we were going to win – or at least I did anyway,” said Cole.

“We got it with Ash at the end which was great.

“The team showed massive spirit to get through after going two goals down. We showed massive fight and got back into the game and 3-2 was the result we wanted.”

The former Bradford City man scored his first goals since August and was pleased to get on the scoresheet and set up a tie with Bristol City in the Third Round.

“It’s been a long time coming!

“I think I’ve been playing well and now I’ve got the goals so I’m happy to now kick on. I was buzzing with the first goal because it got us back in the game.

“It’s a tough draw but with the way that we’ve been playing, we feel like we have a chance.”
