Midfielder wants game time with Town
Kyle Dempsey says he's delighted to join an ‘exciting’ club in Fleetwood Town.
The 20-year-old joined the Cod Army on a season-long loan this morning from Championship side Huddersfield Town.
And after meeting his team mates for the first time at the club’s £9m Poolfoot Farm training complex, he spoke of his joy over the deal.
“I’m absolutely delighted to sign for Fleetwood Town,” he said.
“Getting as much game time as possible was always going to be important for me this season so for me to sign for Fleetwood and hopefully play games is massive for me.
“In my first season with Carlisle I played almost every game, I played about 49 games for the club.
“Last season I managed to play a lot of games in the Championship and I think it was a good step in my career. But at the start of this season I haven’t really been involved and it was important I out to a good club and played games.”
Dempsey burst onto the scene two seasons ago with Carlisle, before a £300,000 move to Huddersfield Town where he played 27 times last season.
He added: “I don’t see it as a step down for me as I’m someone who started my career in League Two.
“I’ve seen the way Fleetwood play and it’s a great opportunity to show what I’m all about.”
The midfielder was wanted by a host of League One clubs after being given permission to discuss a loan move at the end of last week.
And he revealed talks with Town’s Head Coach swayed his decision.
“I sat down with the Uwe Rosler last week and he showed me the way the team play here,” he said
“I also looked at the facilities and everything was just perfect. They look to have a really good group of players and a good manager, so it’s an exciting move for me.
“Hopefully I will bring lots of energy to the team and hopefully I can get back among the goals."
