The club play in the top division of Icelandic football

Icelandic football side Stjarnan will visit Fleetwood this week ahead of Saturday’s home game against Oldham Athletic at Highbury Stadium.

Stjarnan are a club based in Garðabær and compete in the Úrvalsdeild which is the top tier of Icelandic football. They finished fourth in 2015.

They reached the Play-Off rounds of the Europa League in 2014/15 after beating Motherwell and Lech Poznan, but were denied a place in the group stages by Inter Milan.

Representatives from Stjarnan will arrive in the UK on Thursday and will be shown around the fantastic new facilities at the Club’s training ground at Poolfoot Farm.

In addition, they will meet Town’s management team, hold Q&A sessions with the academy and community departments, as well as pay a visit to Rossall School.

On Friday evening, coaches from Stjarnan will deliver sessions to Fleetwood Town’s Under 14 and 15 teams on the Club’s full size 3G surface at the training ground.

Match sponsors for this weekend’s game will be Icelandic bank Borgun, who are the proud sponsors of the Football Association of Iceland.
