Manager expects an intense game at the Banks's Stadium

Steven Pressley believes Monday’s game at Walsall will be an intense one as both sides still very much have something to play for.

The Cod Army will be looking to pull away from their nearest rivals Blackpool and Doncaster, and know a win would be vital in their quest to remain in the division.

Jon Whitney’s side currently sit in third place in the table and have eyes on securing the automatic promotion spot ahead of Burton Albion.

The game will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports from the Banks’s Stadium, with kick off in the West Midlands at 12.15pm.

Ahead of the game, Pressley said: “I’m hoping for a positive performance and a positive result on Monday. As I said post Blackpool we looked a little bit fatigued after the game at Millwall on the Tuesday.

“But by Monday we will have had nine days since that period and we’ve ensured that the players have trained properly and have done the appropriate recovery.

“I can only give an answer if playing on Monday is an advantage to us when the game is over. We still know we’ve got a job to do whenever we play.

“Walsall have still got an opportunity for automatic promotion which means it’ll bring additional spice to the game as we need to win as well.

“Both sides have very much got something to play for and that in itself means it should be a really intense game of football.

“I would also imagine with it being Bank Holiday Monday and the position Walsall are in that they’ll attract a big home crowd, so it’s another game for our players to look forward to.”
