Wes Burns scored the Cod Army's goal in the sixth minute
Fleetwood Town boss Steven Pressley rued his side’s missed chances as they had to settle for a point against Swindon at the County Ground this afternoon. The Cod Army missed a number of opportunities in both halves, with Bobby Grant, David Ball, Devante Cole and David Henen going close.
Wes Burns gave the visitors the lead in the sixth minute as headed Jimmy Ryan’s corner past Tyrell Belford, but Nicky Ajose equalised in the second half.
Pressley said: “I thought we were excellent in the first half, I really, really did. We were in control of the game but in the second half it was much more open.
“It was end to end football but you cannot have the amount of chances that we did today and not win the game. It’s impossible.
“I have never in my time as manager seen as many misses in one particular game. When you look at this season as whole it’s evident that goalscoring is a problem.
“I told the players that it’s unacceptable to miss as many chances but we now need to be brave and be prepared for future games.
“We had an unbelievable moment in the second half where we hit the bar twice and the post in a scramble, but that was one of a dozen chances.
“You cannot have as many clear cut chances as we did today and only score one. We were open at times in the second half but we came here to win the game.
“We have to be clinical and that’s the bottom line. We’re creating the chances and making the moments but we have to have more clinical finishing.
“We’ve nobody in the squad at this present time who has a history of getting you 15 to 20 goals in a season, and it has always been a problem.
“We haven’t got a prolific goalscorer but there’s no excuse for not scoring the goals after creating the chances that we did.”
