Cod Army maintained their four game unbeaten run

Steven Pressley hailed his players for showing an unbelievable spirit to pick up a point against Southend United this afternoon.

Bobby Grant had given the Cod Army the lead but the home side turned the game around through goals from Adam Barrett and Jack Payne.

However Conor McLaughlin was left unmarked in the area in the 90th minute to head Amari’i Bell’s cross in at the back post.

Pressley said: “I thought we were brilliant and created lots of really good chances. The players showed unbelievable spirit which could prove massive in our quest for survival.

“When you’ve got a left full back crossing for a right full back in the last minute of the game just shows our intent.

“My only disappointment is that we scored two goals away from home but didn’t win the game because we played so well.

“We’ve been very good at keeping teams out and have been very good at defending set-pieces, so it was unlike us to concede like that.

“Our performance had effort and endeavour, and if we carry on playing like that then I’m very positive about our chances of staying up.

“For our supporters to travel all this way in their numbers was fantastic. I’m sure they’ll be going home happy because to a man we gave everything.

“We’ve got a group of players who are working tirelessly to keep this Club in the division. We’ve got a number of tough games to come but I’d like to take care of business sooner rather than later.”
