Cod Army welcome the Tangerines to Highbury on Saturday

Fleetwood Town host Blackpool on Saturday afternoon in what will be the first ever Football League game contested between the two sides at the Cod Army’s Highbury Stadium.

On what promises to be an exciting day of action on the Fylde Coast, Steven Pressley’s side go into the game having come up short against Millwall at The Den on Tuesday night.

The solitary goal of the game in South East London came courtesy of Steve Morison’s chipped effort after 52 minutes, which denied Town a share of the spoils.

FTFC are currently 19th within the third-tier standings, two points and two places above their Bloomfield Road opponents who suffered a defeat away at Rochdale last weekend.

Ashley Eastham gave Keith Hill’s side the lead on the stroke of half-time, prior to Joe Bunney and Nathanial Mendez-Laing completing the scoring for Dale at Spotland.

Team News

Joe Davis is nearing a return to the first-team set-up having travelled down to the Millwall game midweek.

However, Shola Ameobi, Bob Harris and Danny Andrew all remain out injured for the local derby.

Henry Cameron is Blackpool’s only absentee.

One to watch

Mark Cullen poses the biggest threat to Fleetwood’s defence, as he leads the way in the club’s goal scoring charts with nine to his name this season.

A native of the Northumberland town of Ashington, Cullen was a member of Hull City’s youth academy for two-years before signing professional terms at the KC Stadium in the summer of 2010.

Cullen spent the next three-years in and around the senior squad at Hull, where he made 24 appearances during that time.

Whilst with the Humberside outfit, Cullen was briefly loaned to Bradford City, Bury and Stockport County.

In May 2013 he left Hull at the end of his contract in favour of a permanent move to then Conference side Luton Town on a free-transfer.

The 24-year-old’s first season at the Hatters proved fruitful, despite being behind Andre Gray and Paul Benson in the pecking order.

He scored eight times in 29 appearances as Luton won promotion back to the Football League as Champions.

His 13 goals the following campaign earned him a summer move to Blackpool for £180,000.
