Striker Wes Burns has today extended his contract with Championship outfit Bristol City until the summer of 2017.

The Welshman arrived on-loan at Highbury in February, and has created an impression on the Fylde Coast by netting five times so far.

He made 19 appearances for City this season before moving to Highbury, and netted a crucial stoppage time winner against Middlesbrough in January.

Burns has also been a regular for Wales’ Under 21s, and received a first ever call-up to the full squad as they sealed qualification to EURO 2016.

Wes told Bristol City’s website: “I’m thrilled to have secured a new deal at Bristol City. I’m thoroughly enjoying the experience at Fleetwood right now and hopefully I can take my good form back to Ashton Gate for next season.”

And manager Lee Johnson also added: “It’s been a brilliant exercise for Wes to go to Fleetwood. Every time I’ve watched their highlights he’s either scoring or assisting goals and he deserves another year.”
