Striker netted against Peterborough earlier in the season

David Ball said the players are keen to put Saturday’s draw at Swindon behind them after missing a number of opportunities to win the game.

Wes Burns put the Cod Army ahead early on and Town had chances to extend their lead before the break, but Nicky Ajose levelled in the second period.

Fleetwood welcome Peterborough United to Highbury on Tuesday night, and they are a team Ball knows well after spending two seasons at London Road.

The point at the County Ground kept Town out of the relegation places, while the Posh picked up their third straight win with victory over Crewe Alexandra.

Ball said: “The lads were all gutted on Saturday because we created so many chances. We had to take them and it should have been three points.

“At the moment though we’ve just got to think about the next game. It’s a positive though that we are creating chances.

“We all know as strikers that those sort of chances don’t come often but we’ll work hard as a group and get ready for Tuesday night.”

The striker netted on his return to Cambridgeshire earlier in the season, and is expecting an attacking game against Graham Wesley’s outfit.

“I enjoyed scoring against them earlier in the season. I had a good couple of years down there and won promotion and had a year in the Championship.

“They’re a good club who play good football and want to score goals. I expect an attacking game from both sides really.

“They’ve got a lot of creativity in their side and have always been a team who will try to score four if you score three, so we’ve got to be right at it.”
