Deacon went to Germany for pre-season with the first team

Keano Deacon marked his return from injury with the opening goal for the development side against Burnley at Gawthorpe on Thursday afternoon.

The Cod Army played out a 3-3 thriller in East Lancashire, and went ahead with a composed finish from the winger from the edge of the box.

Deacon was a part of Graham Alexander's first team squad that went to Germany during pre-season, but picked up an injury which set him back.

Now back to full fitness and raring to go, the tricky winger wants to get himself back into the manager's plans.

After the game, he said: "I think we played really well as a team but we could have defended a little bit better for the goals we conceded.

"We scored three good goals ourselves and it's not like we've been knocked out of the competition as we're still in it.

"I haven't scored in a while so I was quite pleased to get on the scoresheet with the first.

"Eddie Dsane gave me the ball and I just took a touch inside the box and hit it first time. It was a good goal.

"I felt alright given I've just come back from injury, but got a little tired towards the end which is understandable.

"Everything felt good though and it was nice to get through 90 minutes.

"My aim now is to get back into the gaffer's plans and try and get myself into the first team."
