Captain Cod attends AGC fun day

10 September 2015

AGC Chemicals Europe are a Club commercial partner

Captain Cod continues to be out and about in the local community supporting one of the Club’s commercial partners AGC Chemicals Europe at their fun day last weekend.

Almost 100 people enjoyed fun and games at the Wyre Estuary Country Park on Sunday September 6th, as Thornton Cleveleys company AGC Chemicals Europe held their Family Fun Day for employees, families and friends.

Children and parents enjoyed creative activities such as origami, henna tattoos, American football, drumming, circus skills and woodworking tuition in the sunshine.

The group was also treated to a traditional hog roast, refreshments, ice cream and a visit from the company mascot ‘Simon the Scientist’ and Captain Cod of Fleetwood Town FC who also participated in Salsa classes and other sport activities.

The Wyre Borough Council Park Ranger led groups on informative walks about the history of the area and the local wildlife along the Wyre Estuary.

Martin Booker, Head of Commercial, said: “AGC are one of our newest commercial partners and we have built up a great partnership already.

"AGC Employees enjoy hospitality with us on matchdays at every home game and Captain Cod’s attendance at the fun day is another example of our support to our partners when hosting events for their employees.”

AGC Chemicals prides itself on making a positive, beneficial impact on the local community and environment where it is based.

The fun day is part of a full programme offered by AGC Chemicals Europe in cooperation with Newground including monthly after school clubs with an environmental theme held at St. John’s, Breck, Millfield and Carleton Green schools.

AGC also sponsors the ‘It’s Our Planet Awards’, Lancashire’s only awards event dedicated to environmental concerns and improvements by schools.

This year, after popular requests in the past from participants, funds were raised for the Trinity Hospice and the Oncology Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in memory of AGC employee, Ken Adams, for corporate hospitality tickets to Fleetwood Town football games and charitable donations for refreshments.
