Town's players took part in a sponsors event

Fleetwood Town hosted their first golf day in the basking sunshine at Fleetwood Golf Club on Wednesday, with players and management joining sponsors and supporters for a day of golf.

First team players including Stephen Jordan, David Ball and Tyler Forbes were amongst a number of Club representatives from the squad and football management team forging links with sponsors on the day for 18 holes of golf.

To launch the event, the players took part in the longest drive competition, with defender Jordan hit the longest drive to top the players bill whilst new goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou’s air shot in front of the expectant crowd saw him scoop some much needed golf lessons for the year!

Manager Graham Alexander, keen to stress the importance of team bonding at events like this, said: “It’s a great opportunity for the players to have some fun and good for the sponsors and supporters to get to know the players over a few hours golf.

“The lads enjoy events like this, it’s always good for a bit of team banter and team spirit.”

Fleetwood GC Professional Ian Taylor helped organise the event at the links course on Princes Way at Fleetwood.

Martin Booker, Head of Commercial, said: “For our first event we were delighted with how things went.

“The entire squad turned up to kick off the event with a players’ longest drive competition held before our sponsors and guests enjoyed the opportunity to play with first team players around the course.

“Thanks to Fleetwood Golf Club and the team for hosting a great day and thanks to our event sponsors Bowker Motor Group too. We see this as the start of an annual event which we hope will grow and grow.”

F Parkinson Building Contractors were team of the day, with Poolfoot Farm site foreman Mark Green winning the nearest to the pin prize.

Barry Nicholson, development squad manager, stood out as FTFC’s player of the day, but the best round of the day overall was awarded to Kevin O’Toole from West Lancashire Electrical Contractors.

He scooped the top prize which was a weekend test drive in a Maserati Ghibli plus a meal for two at Northcote Manor.

Thanks to our sponsors Bowker Motor Group for their support. For further information on latest new and used car offers here
