Proctor, Grant (x2) and Hunter netted the goals

Steven Pressley won his first game as Town boss in convincing fashion as they beat Burton Albion 4-0 at Highbury this afternoon.

In only his second game in the dugout, Pressley saw his Cod Army outfit show a lethal touch in the second half as they dominated much of the play.

Jamie Proctor put the home side ahead in the closing stages of the first half, before goals from Bobby Grant (x2) and substitute Ash Hunter sealed victory after the interval.

After the game, Pressley said: “The most important thing for us right now is winning games of football. We can talk about every aspect of our performance but winning is all that matters to me.

“In our predicament the only way we’re going to get confidence and belief is by winning games, and today was a small step but a very important one.

“There’s certain players in the team we played because they can bring that moment of quality, and Bobby Grant is one of them.

“We introduced him today and he certainly made the difference. I was also delighted for Jamie Proctor because I thought he led the line brilliantly.

“He worked tirelessly up front for us and made a huge contribution. Collectively though it was a really, really important result for us.

“In the first half we were a little bit nervous and didn’t pass the ball in the manner I wanted is to, but that is credit to Burton too who pressurised very well.

“I said prior to the game that they’ve got a group of players who work exceptionally hard and make life very difficult for opponents.

“We started to see the more of the patterns of play when the game stretched a little bit, and we managed to utilise the wide areas.

“All in all the most important thing for me is winning. I’d have taken a scrappy 1-0 win so it’s a small step in the right direction.”
