Town put eight past Tranmere Academy on Wednesday
Fleetwood Town's development squad were comfortable winners over Tranmere Academy at Poolfoot Farm on Wednesday morning.Barry Nicholson's side were six goals to the good at the break, and added a further two after the interval to round off a comprehensive victory.
After the game, Nicholson said: "The academy side we played today were slightly younger than us but to be fair the lads' attitude was first class.
"We made a couple of changes at half time as Keano Deacon and Max Cartwright have been training with the first team the last couple of weeks.
"We felt it was a good opportunity for some of the younger lads to play and I was really pleased with them.
"We had a little spell in the second half where we were a bit sloppy but other than that they did things properly.
"The academy had a bit of a battering in the first half but you've got to give them credit after the break.
"They changed things and actually caused us a couple of problems in the second half.
"The only downside is that we haven't scored more goals, because in games like that you're that far on top you have to be ruthless."
