Maxwell: We need to show the same level of performance

29 October 2015

Town have picked up six points from nine in recent weeks

Town goalkeeper Chris Maxwell is confident that they can come away with victory over Chesterfield on Saturday should they show the same level of performance as in recent weeks.

The Cod Army comprehensively beat Burton Albion at Highbury a fortnight ago, before picking up a narrow win away at Barnsley last weekend.

And the Welshman is hoping they can pick up where they left off when the Spireites visit the Fylde Coast this weekend.

Ahead of the game, he said: “Chesterfield are a strong outfit and did very well last year. With Dean Saunders being their manager he’ll have the players working hard and right at it.

“We’ve got to be on our toes but on the flip side of things we’ve worked really well in recent weeks and have come away with some great results.

“I think if we do everything right and carry out everything we’ve done over the last couple of weeks, we’ll come away with three points.

“Dean will definitely have his team working hard and they’ll be a very fit bunch of lads. He’ll certainly demand that they put 110% effort in.

“But at the same time we’ve got a manager who loves work ethic and we’ve also got the quality that coincides with that as well.

“If we do things right and add that bit of quality we’ve got and shown over the last few games, I’m very confident we’ll come away with three points.

“On our day we’re a fantastic side and can do very, very well in this league. We’ve beaten some good teams recently.

“Burton were sitting up towards the top of the league when we beat them 4-0 so if we get the basics right and produce that magic again then we’ll be fine.

“Against Barnsley Jamie Proctor put in a great performance, and if Bally can show what he’s shown in training this week then I’m very confident."
