Youngster netted his first senior goal against the Blades

Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane holds fond memories for Town youngster Nick Haughton who netted his first professional goal for the Club in South Yorkshire last season.

The Cod Army face Nigel Adkins’ side on Tuesday evening, and Haughton believes they have nothing to fear after an impressive victory in March.

Town put four goals past Burton Albion at Highbury on Saturday afternoon, with Jamie Proctor, Bobby Grant (x2) and Ash Hunter all scoring.

And confidence is high amongst the squad according to the youngster, who will be looking for his third successive league start against the Blades.

Ahead of the clash, he said: “We picked up a massive win at Sheffield United last season and will be going for the same thing on Tuesday night against a massive club.

“They’re a big club who play in a big stadium so it’ll be a test for us, but we’ll be going there looking to win the game.

“The confidence in the camp is good at the moment and the gaffer has got us playing some good stuff. Training has been very intense.

“It’s a good thing for me that I’ve played the past couple of games. I’ll play wherever he wants me to play so I’m glad he’s given me that chance.

“We need start winning games regularly and Saturday’s game was a good start. We need to pick up points over the next few weeks which will get us away from the bottom end of the table.

“The gaffer’s got his ways of us attacking and we scored a few goals from it on Saturday. Hopefully we can score some more now.

“He’s giving young lads a chance which is a great thing for us, and when we do get the opportunity we have to make sure we make the most of it.”
