Boss proud of his players after emphatic win

Cod Army manager Steven Pressley was proud of his players as they put Swindon to the sword on the Fylde Coast today.

Town went ahead just after the half hour mark when Adam El-Abd put through his own net from David Henen’s low cross.

Antoni Sarcevic made it two from the penalty spot after the break, before strikes from Henen, Tariqe Fosu and Bobby Grant sealed victory.

Pressley said: “It was an outstanding result and an outstanding performance from us. Since I’ve come to the Club it was our most complete performance.

“Today’s performance was a performance over the course of the 90 minutes because we played with such intensity and such purpose.

“We had a lot of belief and were really exciting to watch. I know the game ended 5-1 but the reality was it could have been nine or ten today.

“When the supporters come here they have to see us play with that real intent, so I was delighted for everyone here.

“The only downside for me was that we lost a goal. I said in the dressing room after the game that we have to keep driving standards.

“It has to be 5-0 and not 5-1, but I’ll settle for the win as it will certainly give us confidence due to the manner of victory.

“You can work on things on the training ground but when the players go out onto the pitch they need to carry out the game plan.

“They carried it out perfectly today and deserve great, great credit for that. It’s easy to get sloppy when you go 4-0 up but the work rate was brilliant.

“Our midfield the three’s level of performance over the last four or five weeks has been immense, and again they were the driving force.

“Our lines were good today because when you play against Swindon and don’t get that aspect of your play right they can be a real danger.

“We managed to get that right though so I’m really proud of the players. We’ve got Tuesday night’s game now and have to give the same type of performance.”
