Midfielder scored his first goal in Town colours

Eggert Jonsson believes the Cod Army’s win over Millwall this evening will act as great momentum heading into Saturday’s game at Blackpool.

Jonsson scored his first goal in Town colours with a back post header in the second half, while Bobby Grant added a second from a corner late on.

It was Fleetwood’s second win on the bounce having seen off the challenge of Swindon last weekend, and they now head into the derby with confidence.

He said: “The most important thing for us is the win because we’ve picked up our second successive victory. It’s great momentum for us.

“We’ve improved a lot as a team and today in the first half we played really well and were unlucky not to be up by two goals at least.

“And then second half it turned into a scrappier game, but we have to do those basics as well so we’ve shown two sides to our game.

“It was quite an easy goal to score really and it would have been harder to miss, but it came in quickly and I just got my head on it.

“At the moment we’ve got the combination going between the midfield and strikers. Everyone is working well as a team.

“We’re well organised and know each other’s jobs which makes it easier for us. I’ve played this role most of my career and I’m just glad to be playing.”
