Defender admits he is excited by the Club's vision

Defender Nathan Pond today signed a contract extension which will see him stay at Highbury Stadium until the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

The Club stalwart, who has been a Town player since 2003, admits he is excited by the plans put in place my manager Graham Alexander.

He hopes to pass on his experiences at the Club to the squad’s younger players, and is aiming to become a key figure in their development.

After signing his contract, he said: "I'm very happy to extend my stay at Fleetwood Town. It's going to be another exciting season for the Club.

“Experience is key at any level and I will have to set an example to the younger lads in the squad. I’m looking forward to it.

“The likes of Tyler Forbes, Nick Haughton and Ash Hunter did tremendously well when they came in last season, and even they can pass on their experiences to the lads coming through.

“It’s going to be a good season for the young lads, but they all need to continue to work hard in training and see how it goes.

“All the players want to get back playing over the summer and keep their form going, and I’m no different.

“We’ve got the ability in the squad to perform and hopefully improve on last season.

“I want to just improve personally but also improve as a Club, and see where it takes us.”
