The Cod Army will hope to turn things around at Bradford

Fleetwood Town captain Mark Roberts kept things in perspective following the disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Coventry City.

A couple of late goals from Dominic Samuel and Frank Nouble broke Town hearts as the game looked destine to finish goalless.

Roberts stated after the game though that the Cod Army still have a lot to play for with nine games still to play.

He said: “We’ve come into the game full of confidence off the back of two really good results but we never really got going today.

“It looked destined for a draw but our guard dropped in the last five minutes or so and it cost us.

“They’re a good side and have some very good players. I know they’re in a low part of the table and are fighting against relegation, but I thought they equipped themselves really well.

“We were competing in the game, but nothing seemed to be dropping for us.”

He added: “It wasn’t a lack of effort or a lack of determination, there was plenty of that and endeavour.

“We ran our socks off, it just wasn’t to be and sometimes you’ve just got to take those on the chin and come back stronger.

“We are disappointed because we wanted to carry on that winning run and we’ve been playing some really good stuff at home.

“We’re just trying to concentrate on getting as many points as possible.”

Town will now look to get back to winning ways away at Bradford on Saturday; a game Roberts and the rest of the squad are now gearing up for.

“That’s the beauty with the games coming so quick, it is a great game to be playing one of the top teams in the divisions.

“I’m sure it’ll be a really competitive game and we’ll be up for it.

“Now we have to bounce back and dust ourselves down. It’s a massive game on Saturday.”
