Centre half produced fine display at the heart of defence
Nathan Pond produced a heroic display alongside captain Mark Roberts to keep Sheffield United at bay in their win at Bramall Lane this afternoon.Pond came on as a substitute in the 10th minute for the injured Stephen Jordan, and performed admirably having been out of the side in recent weeks.
Goals from Josh Morris and Nick Haughton were enough for victory despite Matt Done reducing the arrears for the Blades.
Pond said: “It’s a great win at the biggest side in the league. The lads were superb and I thought every man who came on put a tremendous shift in.
“I came on against Notts County a few weeks ago and got a taste of it, and have been dying to get back into the side ever since.
“Unfortunately for Stevie he got injured today which I meant I had the opportunity to come on and do a job for the team.
“If you’re not in the side you’ve got to make the manager think that you’re worthy of a place, and I just came on today and gave 100%.
“I want to involved in these sort of games against the biggest teams in the league, and I loved every minute of it.
“We’ve been slightly inconsistent this season, so hopefully we can now pick up back to back victories which will push us up the table.”
