Cod Army welcome Scunthorpe United to Highbury

Captain Mark Roberts hopes his side can put the disappointment of Saturday’s result against Chesterfield behind them as they welcome Scunthorpe to Highbury on Tuesday night.

Roberts believes it’s the perfect opportunity for the Cod Army to respond to defeat against the Spireites, and is looking forward to a midweek game at Highbury.

Town slipped to 11th at the weekend, but are still very much in the hunt for the Play-Off places with only 13 league games to play.

He said: “Tuesday night gives us the earliest opportunity to bounce back from Saturday and all the frustration that we’ve got.

“We want to put the Chesterfield game behind us as soon as possible, and hopefully we’ll respond in the best way.

“I thought we started the game well on Saturday and created a couple of opportunities, but things obviously transpired the way they did.

“We were all bitterly disappointed in the dressing room afterwards.

“There were certain things we should have done better at as a team and as individuals, and we’ll all take responsibility for that.

“We’ve shown this season that we always respond and react to adversity in the best possible way.

“We haven’t had a midweek game at Highbury for what seems like an eternity, so there’s always great atmospheres at night games.

“When you’ve just lost a game the best way to react is by winning the next game.

“We can learn from what’s gone on and we’ve proven we can do that.”
