Cod Army will be looking to do the double over Dale

Graham Alexander wants his side to maintain their level of performance when they play host to Rochdale at Highbury on Saturday afternoon.

The Cod Army claimed a famous win against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last weekend, and will be looking for back to back wins when they entertain Dale.

Town defeated Keith Hill’s side at Spotland back in December, with Mark Roberts and Josh Morris netting the goals.

Fleetwood currently sit a place above Rochdale in the league standings, and will hope to close the gap on their Play-Off rivals.

Alexander said: “Rochdale is a massive game for us and is the next game coming after what was a fantastic victory last week.

“We need to maintain that level of performance because we know Rochdale are a quality outfit who have some very good players within their group.

“We know of Rochdale also because they’ve been our rivals for the past 18 months, so we need to make sure we’re focused on the job ahead.

“The discipline and quality we showed at Bramall Lane last weekend will have to be repeated this Saturday.

“The lads have been buzzing this week, and rightly so because it was a fantastic win for us as a Club.

“We’ve been away from home this season against some big clubs and felt we’ve competed well in those games, but coming away with nothing.

“It was important we broke that last Saturday and got something from the game. To come away with a deserved three points was a fantastic feeling.”

Alexander now wants his players to continue their form when they return to Highbury this weekend.

“We have to reset all the buttons now and make sure we go again on Saturday because if we feel what we did last Saturday was enough then we’ll be wrong.

“League places obviously change when you play the teams that are around you, but that is something to be thought of after the game.

“We have to focus on what we have to do as a team. Defensively we have to negate what Rochdale have got, and then obviously what we can do on the ball to cause them problems.

“The game of football is all the players have to have in their minds. They just need to know what their jobs are on the day and carry them through to the best of their abilities.”
