Money raised will go to Prostate Cancer UKTony Barlow will be representing the Club as this year's Prostate Cancer Champion in the London to Amsterdam Cycle challenge which takes place this weekend.
In a star-studded peloton, the challenge will begin at Leyton Orient’s stadium and end at Dutch giants Ajax’s Amsterdam Arena.
Riding alongside Tony for the third annual #L2A will be international trio Luther Blissett, Terry Butcher and Matt Holland, who are all aiming to raise over £250,000.
The 145-mile event includes a half-time pit-stop at Colchester United FC before the squad set sail from Harwich at the end of day one.
The second day, Saturday 13th June, takes in a serene sojourn along the pristine pathways of the Netherlands culminating in a finale at the Amsterdam Arena.
Speaking to the Club website ahead of the challenge, Tony said: “I’m looking forward to it massively now and I’ve certainly put the miles in on the road.
“My bag, my kit and my bike have all been blinged up to Fleetwood colours which I’m going to wear with pride.
“Training has been going very well for me recently. I’ve upped the miles every time and have been doing 80 miles on Friday’s.
“I’ve tapered dome somewhat the past week as I’ve just come back from a holiday in Greece, but I did manage to get some warm weather training done whilst out there.
“At this moment in time I think I’m up to the £4,000-£5,000 mark for sponsorship, and I owe great gratitude for every penny given to me from the people in the town of Fleetwood.
“They are fantastic people and I promise them hand on heart that I won’t let them down, and will cycle every mile to finish it.
“This challenge coincides with my battle in the Falklands War, and is equally on par with that so I’m going to give it my best and give it my all.”
