Tony raised the most money for this fantastic charity

Fleetwood Town’s popular Tony Barlow was crowned the highest fund raiser in the London to Amsterdam bike ride in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Tony raised well over £3,500 with the whole Club and community getting right behind the former armed forces and fireman as he rode 145 miles in the space of two days.

On his return to Fleetwood after an intense weekend of cycling, Tony admitted he already has his eyes on next year’s ride but hopes to not do it alone.

He explained:  “The bike ride certainly wasn’t easy. I didn’t know what to expect at the beginning but by the end of the first day I knew it was tough. I tried hard to maintain a good pace and also maintain the good reputation of Fleetwood Town FC.

“I did do but there was a number of elite cyclists that participated and knew what they were doing. I feel I did the Club proud by finishing in the top ten of the 250.

“The pace was set, the weather was warm and the whole organisation was absolutely fantastic. I would have liked to have done it with more people.

“We want to do it next year but this time with a team. I am already thinking about taking part next year but I would love to take a team from Fleetwood to participate in this great event for a fantastic cause.

“I managed to win the best fund raiser so I want to thank all the sponsors and everybody that backed me.  The support I received was incredible from everybody so I want to give a special thank you.”
