Players report back for training next weekTown’s development squad and youth team will return to training next week ahead of the new 2015/16 campaign.
Barry Nicholson’s side enjoyed a fruitful first season with a number of players making the step up to Graham Alexander’s first team.
The youth team also enjoyed success as they reached the third round of the FA Youth Cup, before eventually bowing out to Premier League side Sunderland.
Both sides will travel to Austria during the middle of July for a fortnight’s training camp, with competitive fixtures scheduled while over on the continent.
Nicholson said: “The staff are all back in on Monday. I’m so looking forward to being based at the new training ground and we’ll just go through things the first couple of days.
“Monday and Tuesday will consist of training plans and session plans and what we’re going to be doing over the next four to five weeks before the season starts.
“The lads are then all back in on Wednesday, and I’m pretty sure all of them will have prepared themselves well over the summer.
“We’ve got the first couple of weeks back home here at Poolfoot, and then the development squad and youth team will then go over to Austria for a couple of weeks.
“We’re going to be playing a couple of games each over there and will be based at a nice training ground, so it’s going to be a great for all of the lads.
“It’s important the lads gel and get to know each other and this trip will offer that. We’ve got a few new signings this year and a real good mix to the group.
“I want to try and push the lads as hard as I can again this season. There’s going to be lots of opportunities for the lads to push themselves into the managers’ plans.
“The first team is a younger squad this year, so it gives my lads a great opportunity and I’m just really looking forward to working with them again.”
