Nicholson will take his side to West Yorkshire on Monday

Barry Nicholson’s development squad will travel to Silsden on Monday evening for their first pre-season fixture of the new campaign.

Nicholson’s side enjoyed a fine debut campaign last season, and took the scalp of a number of high-profile sides such as Aston Villa and Liverpool.

The Scotsman has recruited a number of players throughout the summer, and will all hope to follow in the footsteps of Tyler Forbes and Nick Haughton into the first team.

Speaking ahead of the game, Nicholson said: “It’s our first pre-season game of the new campaign and just a continuation of our pre-season programme.

“We’ll train on Monday morning and then the lads will get a couple of hours off in the afternoon before travelling through to Silsden.

“The lads will be looking to get as many minutes as possible under their belts. We had a little game against the youth team the other day so the players have had 75-80 minutes recently.

“We don’t really know what to expect from Silsden but I’m sure it’ll be a tough game and it’ll be good for the lads to taste proper men’s football.

“The lads will have to withstand all that and hopefully then their ability can shine through. We’re looking for hard work first and foremost though.”

The game will kick off at 7.30pm at the Angel Telecom Stadium.
