Mark Roberts speaks to local students

Fleetwood Town captain Mark Roberts visited Cardinal Allen last week to speak to pupils about being a role model.

The visit came about after assistant head teacher Peter Higham contacted the Club’s Community Trust about a recent venture he has had with a small group of year eights and nines about raising their game and increasing confidence.

Peter believed that Fleetwood Town could further help to engage this small group by using a player to inspire them.

Robbo fitted the bill perfectly after taking on similar mentoring roles throughout his career.

He discussed his career and how both the ups and downs had helped him develop into a stronger person.

The pupils were fascinated with Roberts’ story, and with most of them being Cod Army fans it was a fantastic opportunity to meet the Club captain.

Mark is very keen on following the pupils progress and has promised to go in and see the pupils again.

He said: “It is always great to be able to help the next generation and to be involved in the fantastic work the Club does in the community.

“It is a really important part of being a footballer and hopefully the lads enjoyed their mentoring session as much as I did.”
