England international inspires female footballers...

Football star Natasha Dowie visited Highbury Stadium last weekend as the Community Trust held a Female Football Day.

The aim was to increase involvement of females aged 14 and above to participate in the sport.

All schools taking part in the FFD programme were given tickets for the game as Town sealed a 1-0 victory against Crawley Town courtesy of a first half Antoni Sarcevic free-kick.

Lytham High School Girls football team took part in a pre-match activity with Liverpool striker Dowie on the pitch before the Cod Army kicked off against the Red Devils.

Fleetwood Town Juniors  U15’s Girls were ball girls for the day and took part in the guard of honour leading the teams out.

The day was a great success and having Natasha present inspired our young females to be involved in Football on a regular basis.

The Lytham High Girls were fascinated finding out about Natasha’s career for England and Liverpool and how she’s grown up being involved in football. The girls were excited to be invited by Natasha to attend one of her matches for Liverpool in the new season.
