The Cod Army now unbeaten in three league games

Graham Alexander was proud of his Fleetwood Town squad this afternoon as they came away from the Matchroom Stadium with all three points.

Gareth Evans’ strike 17 seconds after the break was enough for victory in East London, which moved the Cod Army up to ninth in the table.

The win means his side are now unbeaten in three games after beating Rochdale and drawing with Swindon prior to today’s win.

Alexander said: “We deserved the win. We played some great football in the first half and should have been in the lead then, so we just emphasised at half time to go out and do the same things.

“We got off to a great start in the second half and scored a fantastic goal through Gareth Evans.

“We came under a bit of pressure at the end, as you’d expect away from home, but the players were superb with their blocks and their headers.

“They were launching long balls into our box late on, and tactics go out of the window then and it’s about who wants to throw their body on the line.

“Every single one of my players were like that and the work rate shown was superb.

“It was a hostile environment but we showed good composure and stood up to it well.

“There was a lot of added time at the end for one reason or another, but we got the three points we deserved.”
