Youngster has caught the eye for Town in recent weeks

Fleetwood Town favourite Antoni Sarcevic has hailed the impact youngster Nick Haughton has had on the Cod Army in recent weeks.

Haughton, signed from non-league Runcorn Town, made his debut against Bristol City at the start of February and has been involved for large parts since then.

His performances have caught the eye of the Highbury faithful, and Sarcevic believes he has a bright future at the Club.

He said: “Nick’s come in and had no fear. He’s only going to get better as well but as long as I’m in the team I’m happy to do a shift on the right and don’t mind playing there.

“As a team we need to swap and change with the games coming thick and fast, and we’ve got a great bunch of lads to do that.

“He’s come from the non-league and had nothing to lose. He’s been a revelation for us this season.

“I’ll try and help him as much as I can because he’s sort of come from where I have. I can see him doing very well here.”

Town travel to Chesterfield on Saturday looking to continue their ascent up the League One table, and Sarcevic is looking forward to the clash.

“The big teams in League One took points away from the sides in and around us in midweek so did us a favour really.

“There’s quite a few teams in contention for those last few Play-Off places and we’re definitely right in the thick of it.

“Both teams have shown they haven’t been aside by League One and have both done well to be aiming for the Play-Offs.

“They obviously won League Two last year and we’ve had a few good games against them, so I’m sure Saturday will be no different.

“We’ve been fairly consistent these last few weeks and have picked up good results, but we just need to keep going now.”
