Keeper relishing County test on Saturday

Goalkeeper Chris Maxwell insists that the Town dressing room is still very much in upbeat mood as they prepare to take on Shaun Derry’s Notts County on Saturday.

The Cod Army tasted defeat last time out against Crewe Alexandra as goals from Nicky Ajose and Marcus Haber earned the Railwaymen the points.

A return to winning ways is all that Maxwell is now focused on however, and feels they can go into this week’s clash with a positive mind frame.

He said: “League One is a division where anybody can beat anybody and the games are so tight, so it’s up to us to make sure we perform every week.

“Maybe we haven’t been doing that a little bit recently, but we’ve had some fantastic wins on the road and I think Notts County will find it difficult on the backlash of Crewe.

“As far as the dressing room is concerned we’ve got a very positive mind set. Nobody has their heads down at all and we’re all relishing the run in until the end of the season.”

Despite slipping to defeat at Gresty Road last weekend, the Welshman wasn’t too disheartened by the way his teammates played.

“Saturday’s performance wasn’t as bad as everyone thinks in my opinion. We were really in control of the game and haven’t got anything to worry about.

“The goals did come from defensive errors which has been unlike us this season, but these things do happen from time to time.

“The defence have been fantastic all season and our defensive record has been incredible.

“We didn’t quite have that cutting edge up front either but we’re going to have games like that.

“We scored two at Barnsley and scored one against Peterborough the previous week, so we’ve got goals in us.

“The defence have been fantastic all season and our defensive record has been incredible.

“We’ve been doing well in training this week and the gaffer has been at us from the start.”
