Town came from behind to pick up all three points

Graham Alexander hailed his players’ character as they came from behind to beat Barnsley at Oakwell this evening.

Town were trailing to an early Peter Ramage goal before Conor McLaughlin equalised after quarter of an hour and Liam McAlinden wrapped up the points before half time.

The win moves the Cod Army up to ninth in League One, and continues their recent good form away from home.

After the game, Alexander said: “Apart from the first five minutes where we were under pressure and under the cosh, the players were magnificent.

“We gave away a poor goal from our standards and probably took about five-ten minutes to get into the game, and once we did we settled into it really well.

“We stretched them and played some good football, and scored two goals which earned us the points.

“We’re so pleased because the boys have deserved it as they’ve been fantastic. It’s a great win for us.

“It was a great goal from Conor and a perfect time to get back in it. You have to get back into a game quickly when you come to a place like this.

“For the second goal, it was a great set-piece and Liam was there doing what he does best and being around the goal.

“Every single player contributed massively to what is a massive three points for us.”
