Pressley praises outstanding second half display

Manager's verdict on 1-1 draw at Crewe

Steven Pressley believed his Fleetwood Town side were outstanding in the second half against Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road this afternoon.

The Cod Army created numerous chances, and went close through strikers David Ball and David Henen, while Eggert Jonsson hit the post.

Ryan Lowe gave the Alex the lead after five minutes with a drilled strike, before Ball equalised minutes later with a fantastic finish.

After the game, Pressley said: “There’s a real disappointment in the dressing room. When you come away from home and gain a point people think it’s a good result.

“But that’s not a good result for us and the players feel the same as me. We have to win these games.

“In the first 20 minutes we looked like a side who hadn’t played in a couple of weeks, and then slowly began to get to grips with the game.

“In the second half I thought we were outstanding. We played at the level I want and the intensity of our press I want.

“They’re hugely frustrated though because I think people can see we’re a good team, but we’re very close to being a very good team.

“The difference between a good team and a very good team is that when you have four very big chances in the second half you have to convert them.”
