Players raised money to buy the school a new minibus

Fleetwood Town Club captain Nathan Pond and striker Jamie Proctor took time out of their busy training schedule to visit Red Marsh School in Thornton on Wednesday lunchtime.

The pair handed over a cheque of £300 to the school’s staff and pupils to aid with the cost of a brand new minibus.

Following the first team squad’s recent visit to the school, the players decided to raise money amongst themselves to contribute towards the purchase of the minibus.

Pond said: “We were both humbled by our experience of visiting the school which is just on the doorstep of the new training ground.

“It was really nice that the players got together and had a whip round to raise money which is going to go towards the purchase of a new minibus.

“Opportunities will be wide and varied for the staff and pupils, and it’ll enable them to get out of the school on trips and educational visits.”
