Town's supporters got to meet the first team squad

This afternoon’s signing session with Fleetwood Town’s first team players and management was a huge success in the Parkside Suite.

Over a 100 children from the local area attended the event, and had shirts signed along with photos with their favourite players.

The event allowed the Club to build on its already increasing fanbase, with the children getting into the Christmas spirit by playing games with the players.

And manager Steven Pressley stressed the importance of such community events which prove to be ever popular with the Cod Army supporters.

He said: “Events such as these are vitally important when you consider that the population of Fleetwood is around 27,000.

“From a percentage point of view we get a very good turnout, and that’s credit to the chairman because he’s filled the community factor right the way through the Club.

“The Club takes that aspect very seriously and try to integrate the community. It’s winning over a lot of the young supporters.

“We have a responsibility as a football department to entice the young kids to come and watch us, so we all have to play a part.

“Football clubs are the hubs of many, many communities and they bring an attention to the Club, so we have a massive responsibility.”
