Grant looking forward to Shrewsbury reunion

Midfielder helped Shrews win promotion last season

Fleetwood Town forward Bobby Grant is looking forward to his first return to Shrewsbury Town since helping the club secure promotion to League One back in May.

Grant spent the majority of the 2014/15 season on loan at Greenhous Meadow from Blackpool, scoring six goals in 36 appearances.

The 25-year-old did however score the winning goal for Fleetwood against Shrewsbury in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in October.

Prior to his return to Shropshire on Boxing Day, Grant said: “I have great memories from my time at Shrewsbury.

“It was a great period in my career. I went there from Blackpool on loan and I managed to win promotion with a great group of lads.”

Grant has scored six times during his second spell at Fleetwood Town, the same amount as he did in his time at Greenhous Meadow.

Pleased with his goal scoring record so far this season, he continued: “It is all about confidence, to score goals you have to be confident.

“I am confident enough in my own ability that I can do that, I managed to score a few goals for Shrewsbury last season, but I’m happy with that I’ve done for Fleetwood since being here, and long may that continue.”

Reflecting back on last Saturday’s match at Crewe, Grant concluded by saying that Town should have taken all three points away from the Alexandra Stadium,

“The first 15 or 20 minutes, we weren’t at our best, but I thought after that, we were totally dominant.

“I thought the second half performance was fantastic, we should have comfortably come away with three points and the manager will probably say the same thing.

“It comes down to putting the ball in the net, we had a few great chances on Saturday against Crewe, if we can get to those levels against Shrewsbury, I’m sure we can put those chances away.”
