First team squad visit Red Marsh school in Thornton

7 December 2015

Players took part in different activities

Members of Fleetwood Town’s first team and development squad visited Red Marsh School in Thornton this afternoon.

One group of players were involved in a number of outdoor activities on the playground, while the other group took part in a Q&A session with the pupils.

Midfielder Jimmy Ryan praised the work that goes on at the school, and said the staff deserve an enormous amount of credit.

He said: “You come to these places around Christmas time and it makes you realise just how lucky you are.

“I’ve got a little boy myself and it just makes you appreciate things a little bit more. All credit must go to the staff who do a brilliant job with the young kids.”

Headteacher Catherine Dellow was pleased to see the Cod Army attend the school, and admitted visits such as these give the children a boost.

She said: “The kids absolutely loved today’s visit and were all very excited when the professional footballers came in.

“It’s great for us because many of our children come from the Fleetwood area. They’re role models for the children and it’s great to see them.”
